Featuring a German U-boat making a rendezvous in the North Atlantic with a ‘milk cow’ supply submarine. A seaman throws a line to secure the two sumbarines while fuel and other essentials are transferred.

Erich Topp began his naval career in 1934 on the light cruiser Karlsruhe. After four patrols in U-46, Topp took command of U-57, in which he sank six ships for a total of over 36,000 tons. He later commanded the VIIC boat U-552 (‘Red Devil’) in which he scored most of his Atlantic successes against convoys and the North American coast. On his best patrol (#8) he sank eight ships for a total of 45,731 tons. In September of 1942 he commanded the 27th U-boat Flotilla. At war’s end he was commander of U-2513, an XXI Elektro Boat. His grand total was 36 ships sunk (198,650 tons) and 4 ships damaged (32,317 tons).
