Erich Rudorffer was initially on the eastern front in command of II./JG54 in 1943. He began to score quickly, for he shot down FIVE aircraft on his first mission! His second mission brought 3 more kills. On January 15, 1945, Major Rudorffer was placed in command of the Me 262 jet fighter-equipped I./JG-7. He became one of the FIRST JET FIGHTER ACES in the world, scoring 12 victories on this aircraft, including ten 4-engined bombers. His all-up score was a staggering 224 VICTORIES! This places him as number 7 on the all-time list. He flew over 1,000 missions and was shot down 16 times, having bailed out 9 times.
