Late war. In a pasture doubling as an airfield, in low visibility conditions, Oscar Boesch takes off with his squadron on an urgent front-line mission. Unbenknowst to them, another Focke Wulf squadron is landing in the opposite direction. The only collision to occur was Oscar’s airplane, which collided head-on with another aircraft. Despite serious damage to Oscar’s right wing tip (which struck the ground), his right undercarriage and prop, he staggered under full power in a right hand turn around the field at tree-top level and crash-landed. Examination of the other aircraft revealed that Oscar’s props had caused severe damage, with one prop striking just ahead of the pilot, and the next prop just behind him. Both pilots survived.

Feldwebel Oscar Boesch is an ace with eighteen victories. He also collided with a Yak-9 over Berlin and survived.
